Day 2: Still Traveling!

ACE students discussing policy.

We arrived in San Francisco on Saturday night and had a two hour lay-over.  We ate supper, called our family and friends, saying our last goodbyes before flying to New Zealand. Many of us realized this would be our last time for a while to contact our loved ones while we traveled half way across the world.  We boarded the plane at 9:10 and everyone was quite impressed with the high-quality flying accommodations. The plane appeared to be new and the staff gave a warm Kiwi introduction to how friendly the people of New Zealand are. We had our own separate TVs and each of us watched a few movies.  We ate supper and breakfast on the plane, and the flight attendants introduced us to some New Zealand culture.  We flew over the international date line so once we arrived in Auckland, it was Monday morning.

Our group is focusing on the pastoral livestock systems and how to keep pasture ground sustainable for years to come, members including Cody Morris, Kayla Peterson, Sydney Mumm, and Alex Ruwe as pictured above.  We are all looking forward to the rest of our adventures here in New Zealand.  Thus far, we’ve been greeted with open arms and our first farm visit was more than what we were expecting.
