Personal Preference? ACE has an answer

ACE students discussing policy.

Hey, guys! I am Mingye Chi, or Ming, the ambassador of ACES for this week. I am a senior student and my major is Agricultural-Accounting. As a student who has studied in ACES for almost 4 years, I highly recommend any new students or potential students to study in our college. In our college, we have so many options can choose. If you feel interested in business, you can study agr-finance or financial planning, and even study agr-accounting like me. Or you can study biological engineering if you want! To those potential students, I just want to say choose and study the right major which you real like. Personal Preference is the most important factor you should consider. Of course, you can ask other people like college advisors. You can find their information on the compass web site easily. Here is a real example I encountered couple months before. A new freshman student come to see me and say ‘ Are you ambassador of college ACES?’ ‘Yes, I am’ ‘So can you give me some suggestions for choosing my major?’ ‘Sure’ Then, in the next 15 minutes, this new freshman student kept talking about his ambition of his whole life, past experience, his family, and even his pets. It is good to have ambition for the future. I promise that you are choosing the right place to achieve your ambition in ACES. Furthermore, as a senior student, I highly encourage you to interact with our department’s staff, advisor, and professors. All of them can give you the right direction with own successful past personal experience in your academic life and career in the future. Furthermore, we have different clubs such as financial planning club, where you can meet different sorts of people and listen to their own successful past experience.

Now, you should have a basic idea of our college of ACES and if you have any further question or feel interested in our college, please send e mail to me or advisor Ann Finnegan: abfinngn@illinois.edu

All of us will feel glad to answer any questions you may have in anytime and enjoy your thanksgiving break!
