Transitioning from Junior College to 4-Year through ACE

ACE students discussing policy.

Growing up on farm, there was no question that I was going to major in agriculture. I attended a community college for a year, knowing I wanted to further my education at the University of Illinois through the College of ACES. It was my goal to apply and work on a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and consumer economics, focusing in marketing and management. My goal is to go back to the family soybean business, and I choose the University of Illinois to grow as a professional because of all the opportunities that are offered. It was simple for me to transfer into the ACE department, and they made it an easy adjustment.

I never would have imagined when I graduated high school that I would be as active in my college as I am today. I have had the opportunity to join numerous clubs, hold leadership positions, and study abroad. I have been active in the Student Advancement Committee, Field and Furrow Club, Collegiate Farm Bureau, and ACE Club. Though my campus activities, I have built relationships with other students and professors in the College of ACES and within the ACE Department that I may run into in the workforce. I am very fortunate for being an ACE major and all of the countless internships through companies seeking ACE majors have to offer to grow as professionals.
