Profile: Brett Guth

Financial Analyst, Accenture
Brett Guth, agriculture and consumer economics alumnus, works as a financial analyst in the corporate finance division at Accenture. His duties entail compiling monthly financial reports and managing budgeting, forecasting, and expense reporting under various contracts. A key element of his position is forming strong relationships with contract leads. 
 
“I enjoy the daily challenges,” says Guth, “as well as the availability to gain knowledge from experienced co-workers and the opportunities to advance with the company.”
 
Guth believes that his eagerness to take on opportunities has helped him to shine in his profession. He credits his success to analytical skills and the ability to use Excel software.
 
“My Illinois experience prepared me by offering opportunities to network with successful individuals, build my Excel skills, and develop a work–life balance,” Guth says. 
 
During his time at Illinois, he enjoyed learning from successful teachers and meeting students who would be working in the same field after graduation . A member of Pi Kappa Alpha, Guth served as scholarship chair, allowing him to help improve the fraternity’s overall GPA. He held two internships during college that strengthened the knowledge needed to pursue a job in finance. 
 
“The quality of classes, teachers, and students sets Illinois apart from other academic institutions,” Guth says.
