Farm manager and rural appraiser, Heartland Ag Group

Jeremy Crouch, an agricultural and consumer economics graduate, enjoys the variety of his work as a farm manager and rural appraiser for Heartland Ag Group.

“One day I may be making decisions and selling grain, and the next day I could be appraising a multimillion-dollar asset,” Jeremy says. “I enjoy the mixture of office-type projects and hands-on in the field. It was hard for me to decide what part of agriculture I like the best, and my profession allows me to do a little bit of everything.”

A strong work ethic and a background in agriculture are among the factors that underlie Jeremy’s professional success. He enjoys putting in the extra work needed to succeed in a job that is not 9-to-5, Monday-to-Friday.

“Growing up on a farm and gaining skills and knowledge through experience and education have greatly helped my career,” Jeremy says. “Multitasking is another beneficial characteristic for all of the projects that come with being a farm manager or appraiser.”

Jeremy believes the College of ACES was vital in preparing him for real-world situations and applications.

“There are a number of skills I learned that I use every day,” Jeremy says, “such as building Excel spreadsheets and doing financial analysis, which I learned in ACE 360: Spreadsheet Models & Application.”
