It is extremely rare after college to talk to and learn from electric engineers, future doctors, poets, and talented athletes in one setting.

Profile: Joy Huang

Alumni
Leadership Development Program Participant and Marketing Analyst, Allstate

Joy has enjoyed the opportunity on the job to interact with and learn from seasoned professionals in her field.

“Through the rotational program, I’ve been able to meet with more executives and gain experiences at Allstate that I wouldn’t have had otherwise. What I love most about being a marketing analyst is getting a holistic view of marketing. I love seeing how a large Fortune 100 company plans and strategizes their enormous marketing spend and what they think will be effective to achieve company goals in the future.”

While at Illinois, Joy appreciated the diversity of people that the school has to offer.

“What I enjoyed most about U of I was the diverse group of people I was able to interact with. It is extremely rare after college to talk to and learn from electric engineers, future doctors, poets, and talented athletes in one setting.”

Joy also valued the students and professors at Illinois who were encouraging and motivated others to strive towards achieving their potential.

“I think that what sets the U of I apart from other academic institutions is the people that comprise it. This includes the students that are driven, kind, and intelligent, that encouraged me to be more like them. This also includes the amazing professors—most notably Professor Paul Stoddard—and staff that invest in you and truly put your development and dreams before grades.”
