Although many of the courses offered in the Department of ACE might be found in a traditional business or economics college at other universities, The University of Illinois has a special mission. U of I was designated in 1867 as the state’s land-grant institution. With that designation comes a responsibility and challenge to provide education and help develop policies that apply to the stakeholder community in which the university is housed. The College of ACES (Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences) upholds that mission by providing applications of theories that relate to stakeholder groups whether they be in the agricultural, environmental, consumer, or public realm.
