IBIP Day 2 | Taking on Brazil

Bom dia!

We started our morning with a local supermarket challenge. All four teams were given a different task and one hour to complete it. From the challenge, we learned about United States products made in Brazil, products imported from the United States, product price variance from the U.S., and explored new products the group had never seen before. We also ate at a local Italian restaurant and experienced a wide array of dishes.

Following lunch, we boarded the bus and headed for ABPA (Brazilian Association of Animal Protein). The meeting was led by the Vice President of the World Poultry Association. Statistics were shared about the Brazilian poultry and swine industry. We learned what separates Brazil from the rest of the world in biosecurity, ensuring them a steady supply of meat. Following the meeting, we boarded the bus and headed for the hotel. Our next speakers were from Agroicone Business Management Consulting. The company had conducted in-depth research on sugarcane production for ethanol and cattle production. We learned about the growing ethanol industry with sugarcane and the steps Brazil is taking to produce more cattle while reducing deforestation.

In the evening, we took a 20 minute walk, between the rain storms, through São Paulo to an Arabic restaurant. We tried many different dishes in a turntable setting. New foods were definitely tried by all - with a few unsure faces from every bite.
